THANK YOU Nature Trail Clean-Up Crew - WOW!
Thanks to everyone who came out to help clean-up the creek bed beside our Nature Trail. As we discovered, this site has been used as an old dump site for decades filled with glass, metal, pottery, tires, appliances and even a car! We also dug up a metal 1952 calendar, so we have at least a time stamp for how back this goes. We filled over 40 bags of trash and dug out a refrigerator, carpet and more tires. A HUGE thanks to our Murray Community, the men's fitness group F3 and volunteers from found through Charlottesville MeetUp. There is still so much, but we learned a lot about how to proceed: The best time for clean-up is late fall, or early spring to avoid overgrowth, heat and bugs. We're also going to put more effort around proper environmental protocol - if anyone wants to help assess, or knows who to ask, please get in touch.
