PTO Events and Fundraisers
We have events throughout the year for Murray Mustangs and their families. We count on our invaluable Murray parents to plan and run these events, so let our PTO know if you’d like to be involved!
Flick on the Field (PTO Fundraiser - September)
We kick off the school year with an outdoor movie on the field for Murray families. Enjoy a picnic dinner, goodies for sale, and raffle prizes. Volunteers organize this popular event each September. Most of the planning takes place over the summer and early in the school year. Volunteers are also needed to help the day and evening of the event.

Fall Fund Drive (PTO Fundraiser)
This direct-donation fundraising effort each fall supplies our PTO with funds for helping keep Murray a great place to grow. Donations are used to support teacher’s needs, school activities, and other Murray priorities. Click here for ways to donate.
Fun Run - October
A fun Murray tradition that encourages kids to be active and to cheer on classmates. The Fun Run encourages school spirit and raises money for new physical education equipment. Kids who choose to participate can select a quarter mile, half mile, or full mile run, complete with a ribbon at the end and the satisfaction of finishing.
Volunteers are needed for planning and/or working the day of the event. Experience with fundraising/donor solicitation, race events, or spreadsheets are helpful but not required. Someone who may not be available for planning or event day but who is willing to donate popsicles for after the race is also needed. Some jobs are flexible and can be completed on the members’ own time. Time commitment varies from 2-20 hours, depending upon availability. Chair: Carrie Cooper
Scholastic Book Fair (Fundraiser - November)
Scholastic sets up a great selection of books and items for purchase in the Murray library the week before Thanksgiving. Stock up on birthday and holiday gifts with new favorites. Proceeds help support the Murray library.
Chairperson and approximately 10 committee members organize and run the book fair, held the week before Thanksgiving. Some volunteers are needed to set up for the fair from 1:15-4:00 during one school day. Others are needed to work a 90 minute evening shift.
Bingo Night (PTO Fundraiser - February)
Kids look forward to Bingo Night all winter! We have loads of donated prizes, a stuffed animal store, and food for purchase. Volunteers organize this event, which is usually held on a Friday evening in February. Planning begins a couple months prior to the event. Chair: Rueijen Fan
Talent Show (PTO Fundraiser - March)
In the "Murray's Got Talent" show, Mustangs get a chance to showcase their talent in front of an encouraging group of friends and families. The talent show takes place in the spring of each year. Volunteers produce the annual event; tasks include organizing student performers during the audition & rehearsals, helping during the actual show, stage decoration, and ticket sales at the door. Time commitment is usually 4-6 hours total. There will be one meeting in early February, approximately 1:30-2:30 (before school pick up). Chair: Marie Powers Ellis
Field Day - June
A Murray Mustang’s favorite way to celebrate the approach of summer. Held towards the end of the school year, kids participate in all kinds of fun outdoor games and sports guaranteed to wear them out. Volunteers work with our PE teacher (Ms. Tillar-Hughes) to create this themed day. Time commitment varies. Leaders and helpers are needed for this fun-filled event.
Party Parade (PTO Fundraisers - throughout the year)
Party Parade is a way to support Murray and connect with other families. Across the year there are adult parties, sporting events and family events. We have a number of generous hosts planning some great things like a women's tennis open, Oktoberfest, wreathmaking, mom/daughter Tea and Ednam progressive dinner. We are in need of some new parties and hosts through the winter and spring. Please be in touch if you are interested (we have many party ideas in the back of our minds) or if you have your own great idea! Last year - because of a generous group of hosts- we raised $5500.00 for the school- let's keep this strong support going!
